I can be an awful music consumer. When I hear a song that I like, I usually listen to it consecutively for days until I feel like I never, ever, ever want to hear it again. I’m the “Call Me Maybe” of music fans. #SorryNotSorry. Here are a few songs I have been dying for lately:
The Weeknd – Feel It Coming
So, even though he hails from Toronto, I’ve never been a massive Weeknd fan. Although I can recognize that this guy is massively talented, I’ve just personally never enjoyed his singing voice! However, this has all changed with his latest album, and in particular, this track. It’s upbeat, it’s groovy, and it was produced by DAFT PUNK. You know you’re doing something right when you’re on a song with Daft Punk.
Kaytranada – Glowed Up
It took me awhile to get into Kaytranada, but boy, when I did, I was wondering where he had been all of my life. Born in Montreal, this hip-hop producer mixes electronic with funk, soul, and r&b to create chill but dance-worthy beats. This track features singer Anderson Paak and is the perfect addition to any driving playlist.
Radiohead – House Of Cards
I have never been a Radiohead fan. They were just one of those bands that I never bothered listening to – they have so many albums and it just seemed like an exhausting process to attempt to like them. I even skipped them at Osheaga this year because I thought it was boring. But then, one day, my friend (who is a super Radiohead-head) made me playlist with his favourite songs. I started randomly listening to them at work because they seemed boring (aka they would allow me to concentrate).
WELL LET ME JUST SAY I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE WRONG. THIS WAS MY #1 PLAYED SONG OF 2016 AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND I CANNOT BELIEVE I SAW MAC MILLER AT OSHEAGA INSTEAD OF RADIOHEAD. I DEFINITELY MISSED A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!
Sorry, just got a little passionate there. Just listen to that.
